Lunch at ASDA
It was cold, it was raining as I walked towards the store
Pleased to feel the warm air through Asda’s open door.
My stomach gave a rumble, a smell came wafting by
But heading for the restaurant no menu did I spy
Wondering what to have for lunch, I joined a snaking queue
What was in those dishes? No one had a clue
What is it they’re offering? What’s hidden in those pies?
Could that be a curry? It must be a surprise!
But there behind the counter in lettering so small
There seemed to be a menu that I couldn’t read at all
I was not the only one with ‘eyes that could not see’
So then the thought of writing came on wings to me
Could you put a menu in letters bold and clear
To be read by customers before they get too near
They would be delighted to know what food’s for sale
To speed up the proceedings and end this sorry tale.
